Review Arctic Fan 9 English
martes, 20 de marzo de 2007

Looking at the Arctic Fan 9 from an aesthetic point of view, we can say that the finish is excellent, without any kind of burr. As a whole, it's meticulous and elegant in appearance. It's worth metioning that the wires sleeves are not made of that common bright plastic material we all are used to seeing, but of a fabric that is similar to cotton and that is pleasant to the touch and to the sight. All these details make this fan not only technically superior to most of the products we know, but also recomendable for those users who are also concerned with the PC's appearance.

To verify the technical specifications, we'd decided to take some measurements.
The revolving speed seemed to be a good starting point. For that we compared the information provided by Arctic Cooling, with the reading taken by the fan's own sensor and an optic tachometer.

'Pictures speak louder than words'.

We leave to the end, the most difficult measurement which to be considered seriously, it should be taken in a soundproofed booth, taking into account a series of facts. Unfortunetly, due to the lack of means, we were forced to skip it.
However, with the help of the appropiate software, it is possible to separate the noise produced by the fan to that generated by the environment and consequently, get a quite accurate noise level of the fan.
Although the possible errors this method could make, we believe it to be useful at least at the moment of comparing this fans to others, since the word 'noiseless' usually isn't enough for our readers. Having in mind the airflow capacity, I'd dare say this is the most noiseless fan I've ever had in my hands.

Above, we can see a noise meter that picks the environmental noise as well as the software capable of filtering the background noise while they were calibrated.

The result of the noise measurement was between 5 and 8 dBN. A very low level indeed, if compared with any other fan.

We decided not to run any tests with the fan at a low speed, since the noise is truly imperceptible, and, therefore, it'd be totally purposeless.

All in all, Arctic Cooling's Arctic Fan 9 shows us that a technologically superior product doesn't necessarily have to be an aesthetically poor one. It is practically noiseless and impeccable in performance, appearance and presentation. What is more, its convenient price makes it an outstanding choice when having to add fans to the PC.
That is why Tortugahard highly recommends this product and awards it with its highest distinction.
