Página 5 de 10 The rotational speed of the incorporated fan is about to be confirmed so as to get a parameter to relate it with its own noise level.
Since the fan doesn't have an RPM sensor, and the video card isn't capable of measuring a fan of this kind without the assistance of another external device, we decided to use an optic tachometer. The tachometer produces a beam of light that hits against a reflective tape that was placed previously on the object to be measured. The rebounded beam is then analyzed by the device, giving as a result the rotational speed.
The reflective tape on the fan may produce a slight unbalance in a piece like this. Nevertheless, no problems were noticed.
The beam in action.
From the 2000 RPM stated by the manufacturer, we measure 1800 . This broadly justifies the noise level and the six year warranty that Arctic-Cooling gives for the Silencer line.
