Review Arctic-Cooling Silencer NV5 English
martes, 20 de marzo de 2007

To test how the NV Silencer 5 works, we used the well known Battlefield 2

Continuous measurements were taken in half-an-hour periods, with intervals of one minute in the following way:
With the PC in idle mode (initial temperature), we loaded the game two minutes after the mesuring had begun, and then we played during twenty five minutes without stopping. After that, we quit the game and the PC was left to return to idle so as to observe how the termerature drops to normal levels.

Then we tested it with the video card in default and overclocked to ULTRA, that is 350/1000 @ 400/1100

An important fact is that the temperature in every case was 27 °C. It may be considered somewhat high, true, but we believe that there is nothing better than to test a cooler in unfavorable conditions.

The cooler stock behavior with and without overclocking is shown in red colors, and that of the NV Silencer 5 under the same conditions is in green.

When we wanted the video card to work at the above mentioned overclock level,  the cooler stock gave us many problems. We had many artifacts in several occations and even freezes due to the room temperature. Therefore, we had to perform serveral runs with it, just to make up for those occations when the PC didn't work properly.
With the NV Silencer 5, it was a completely different story. The temperature dropped noticeably and we had neither artifacts nor freezes.
In short, here is a product that not only does reduce the noise level, but also drops the temperature. It also got an overclock increase and obtained lower temperatures with the video card working at a higher speed than working in default mode with the cooler stock.
