Página 5 de 14 The Pump The heart of the kit. Let us focus on the technical specifications:
At first sight, what calls our attention is the pump’s small size, but there is a lot more beneath this elegant design. In broad outline, it is possible to say that this pump is ‘similar’ to the one we have tested previously, the Swiftech MCP350™. that Danger Den calls DDC – 12V REV2 “PLUS” with no modifications, since this pump is produced by the same manufacturer and sold by the two companies. They both have a 12V direct current (they use the PC’s power supply) and a noticeably small size.
Included in the kit’s pump are some extras that we found very interesting. First, the pump’s design allows Danger Den to offer a significant 2-1/2-year warranty, due to the low wear the pump is subject to in normal performance conditions. When talking of design, a series of details are included that together give a wide range of solutions to the possible problems that may arise during that period of time. To name the most important ones, we can say that inside the pump there is a loads distribution system combined with high quality bearings (highly polished sapphires, like the ones found in expensive watches) which give a practically wearless performance (see review Arctic Fan 9 on hydrodynamic lubrication). The rotor operates on magnetic coupling. This eliminates the possibility of leaking between the impeller and the pump’s motor. The motor’s case is made of aluminum. That, together with a large heat sink area, allows the motor to run under constant high efficiency. Corrosion is not a problem here, since the material of the parts that are in contact with the water is free from it.
