Let us have a close look at the water block. It has 9 channels with a passage section of 83 mm2 altogether. This is more than enough if we consider that the diameter of the tubing used is ½”, giving a passage section of 126 mm2. It is evident that the restriction produced by the water block in not important; consequently, the pressure loss is not important either.
This is quite significant. When there is a small pressure loss (when compared to other types of water blocks), the flow will stay relatively high, which, in spite of having an acceptable performance in the water block itself, allow us –in theory- to add other blocks to the circuit, provided they work under the same principle. If a water block is too restrictive, the outflow pressure will be too small. Therefore, the capacity of adding new water blocks would be too limited unless we turn to more complex systems or to multiple pumps.
After testing the kit, we will see the water block results in isolation. But for now, it is our intention to continue with the components’ description.
